In this expertly tensioned psychological thriller, two detectives track a gruesome killer in the oppressive heat of a Madrid summer. Roberto Alamo and Antonio de la Torre deliver stand-out performances as the temperamentally contrasting but similarly troubled detectives. Much more than just another odd-couple cop drama, this film layers psychological investigation with nuanced social and cultural observation. The heat, the political unrest, the ticking clock – all adding depth to the film’s palpable atmosphere.
